We (Alice and Dom) took over Tuston Farm in February 2019, it was a bare ex-arable field that we set about turning into an Organic market garden. We chose the no-dig method for the veg beds (mainly because we didn't have any machinery!) and have put up a huge polytunnel, planted loads of fruit trees and woodland.
Now 6 years later it is beginning to feel a bit more established, the first few fruits from the trees and bushes have been delicious and we can't wait for more! The willow we planted for woodchip has taken off as well as the woodland trees and agroforestry lines.
In the market garden we have now expanded into 8 blocks of 10 veg beds as well as two polytunnels. All managed on an organic rotation, with plenty of green manures and under-sowing to keep the soil healthy.
As well as Alice we have employed a seasonal assistant grower part time for the past 4 years. And our son is also (sometimes!) keen to be involved!
